PRT at Leisure and Entertainment Venues

Leisure and entertainment venues range from theme parks to zoos, wild animal parks, entertainment districts, casino strips and sports arenas. Circulation is a critical issue in the design of any attraction and automated people mover systems typically solve two particular aspects: distance and dispersal. Personal Rapid Transit can help accommodate the transportation flows by interconnecting the locations within attractions and/or linking the attractions with parking, public transit and lodging.

By default of its’ characteristics (network configuration, high station density and individual transit), PRT is ideally suited to accommodate dispersal of the guests – whether it is within one park or between different parks/casinos. A high station density also ensures minimum walking distances, reducing travel time for the guests.

The small foot print of the system ensures it is easily integrated in the spatial planning. The electronic guidance allows for the system to be implemented at grade, but an elevated guide way is also possible. The simple infrastructure and the small foot print ensure there is minimal visual intrusion (especially when installing the system at grade), while the capital costs are also kept relatively low. The routing of the PRT system can connect to parking facilities, public transportation nodes and lodging – functioning as a feeder system to their passengers. The service level of the system is superior in comparison to other transit systems, providing the guests with the ultimate convenience and a better visiting experience.

A PRT system could also be used for guided tours – at animal parks, zoos but also for factory tours (e.g. at Boeing). The system ensures an individual, controlled, guided experience.
