CyberCab Navigation System

2getthere has the exclusive rights to apply the FROG-technology, the supervisory planning and control system TOMS, as well as unique proprietary subsystems and components (such as the FrogBox and Magnet Ruler - MMS) and a number of related patents for Automated People Mover Systems. The navigation technology has a track record of 22+ years. The reliability and availability have been proven over time, both in people mover applications as well as other environments (e.g. industrial environments and entertainment rides).

The FROG (Free Ranging On Grid) technology creates intelligent vehicles that can operate in any environment. The on board FROG-box® controls the vehicle based on electronic maps (route planning). While driving, the vehicles measure distance and direction traveled by counting the number of wheel revolutions and measuring the steering angle (odometry). External reference points (magnets embedded in the road surface) are used to correct possible small inaccuracies in reference to the planned route (calibration).

The FROG-technology is the most sophisticated navigation system available, providing superior reliability and availability. The system has continuous longitudinal and lateral position calculations, ensuring external influences, such as wind, are automatically corrected. The passive reference points merely serve to improve the accuracy even further (<4cm. at 80km/ph).

The FROG-navigation system is not dependent on any physical infrastructure. It does not require any physical guidance (rail) or guiding infrastructure elements (kerbs and/or walls), ensuring complete liberty in design and allowing for at-grade crossings. Dependency on infrastructure elements, common for other PRT systems, entails a higher vulnerability and increased inspection and maintenance costs of the infrastructure.

The FROG-technology is the only navigation principle for electronically guided people movers proven outside the realm of a test-track. The reliability of the navigation system has been proven in all previous applications realized and tested successfully by TNO during the FMECA safety-procedure for the ParkShuttle Rivium application.
