To enforce the existing R&D team working in this innovative area, we have a job opening for a R&D perception engineer who is interested in contributing to the design and implementation of software components for Level-4 automated driving shuttles.
Description
As a perception engineer, you will be part of an enthusiastic team that diligently works together with other Automated Driving software feature teams covering a wide range of topics such as perception, planning, control, and cooperative driving. You will develop our Automated Driving software which includes requirement analysis, technology/algorithm selection, software design and implementation, and software integration. You are also responsible for documentation and testing of the software (unit and integration-level).
We are currently looking for a R&D perception engineer at our location in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Our department consists of 7 engineers, and you will be sharing tasks and responsibilities with one of them as well as other R&D Engineers. Occasionally you will have to visit a project location, e.g., Rivium (Rotterdam) to integrate driving functionality into the Level-4 automated driving shuttle, R&D test vehicles, or HIL setups.
Your tasks
- Responsible for developing Automated Driving software features in C++, and documenting and maintaining the software
- Write requirements and analysis of the software features to be developed
- Write production-level code, optimize performance, do testing (unit testing, smoke testing), version control and code review
- Support porting, integration, optimization of software into target architecture for Level-4 automated driving shuttle, R&D test vehicles, or HIL setups
Your profile
- MSc/BSc in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or relevant studies
- Minimum 3 (medium) or 5 (senior) years of relevant experience
- Advanced-level programming skills in C++, Python and experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, and PyTorch
- Experience with Linux development environment experience, ROS is a plus
- Experience with Object Oriented Programming, Code optimization, Documentation and Code review
- Experience with software development tools; IDEs (VSCode, CLion), versioning tools (Git), build process (CMake)
- Familiar with CI/CD pipeline, build automation tools (Conan, Jenkins), workflow tools (Atlassian Jira, Confluence)
- Familiar with the V-Model as well as Agile-Model
- Experience with automotive industry standards and processes such as ISO 26262, ASPICE
- Hands on experience with data processing on 3D/4D RADR (including velocity information), 3D LIDAR systems and camera images
- Experience of machine learning algorithms for tasks such as object detection, clustering and tracking using techniques like linear regression, non-linear optimization, and advanced optimization methods
- Deep understanding of statistics, Bayesian filter theory (such as Kalman filters, particle filters, Bayesian filters) for sequential data processing and decision-making in dynamic environments
- Address data synchronization challenges in multi-sensor systems and ensure robust, reliable fusion of data from camera, radar and LiDAR sensors
- Deep understanding of Linear Algebra and geometry perception solutions for multi-frame coordinate transformation, point cloud registration methods such as Iterative Closest Point (ICP), and experience on SLAM solutions. Knowledge on photogrammetry algorithms such as feature detection and matching methods, bundle adjustment for camera calibration
- Preferred Skill: Knowledge of deep learning algorithms such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and transformer models for perception tasks
